Hero Honda Motors are accelerating their efforts to tap rural market as the company  gears up to sell a whopping five million units in 2010-11. Already, four out of every 10 Hero Honda bikes sold are in the rural area and in the next three years, one out of every two (50%) sales will be  in the hinterland.

No wonder then that the country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer has decided to begin a door-to-door service facility for rural customers.

Called ‘Service Har Jagah’, this network will be based on specially customised bikes which are fitted with necessary equipment to provide service on wheels in the interiors. Hero Honda Managing Director Shri Pawan Munjal said 600 fresh rural support executives are being recruited for this purpose and this programme will support the company’s successful ‘Har Gaon Har Aangan’ drive where village elders, sarpanchs, headmasters and anganwadi workers would be  contacted to enhance bike sales.
